Xbox 360

It's been a while. The last posting was on December 25, the day I got an Xbox 360. In short, 360 has awesome games, particularly Mass Effect (as pictured above). Only thing I don't like about the 360 is the hardware noise that it makes (it's LOUD) and the uneasiness of its legendary reliability. Other than that, the exclusive games for it are great.

Charlie Wilson's War

I was born in the 80's but they never teach you something so recent in history classes. I was pretty oblivious to world affairs when I was 8 so this movie was a very interesting history lesson for me. It's basically about the US involvement in Afghan-Soviet war in the mid-80's and how this congressmen played a role in it.

It's too bad that no one's going to the theaters to watch this since no one actually cares about reality. We'd rather watch ourselves get bombed with our own planes then go on to blame an uninvolved country.

Candidate thingie...

This thing tells you who to favor for presidential campaign:

Mine were:
1. Dennis Kucinich
2. Barak Obama
3. Mike Gravel

It's too bad there will only be two choices come general election time and Kucinich's chance of winning the democratic ballot is low to none.

I am Legend

Story-wise, it's not as good as another movie in its genre, but it's scary as heck. I feel so traumatized.

M$ sucks

My mom's laptop came with M$ Office 2007 trial version that saves everything in a .docx format by default. The sucky thing is that docx is a completely proprietary format that things like Office XP or OpenOffice can't read. Also, whenever she sent these docs to friends, they couldn't open them since they didn't have Office 2007. The trial period ran out and I have to get some sort of converter to convert the files. This type of stuff just makes people mad; no wonder M$ is getting less popular these days.

definition of fearless

fearless
–adjective
without fear; bold or brave; intrepid.

Of course I know the odds are against the Broncos. What does making a fearless prediction really mean? Is making the prediction, that "Patriot will win the SB" when the odds of them doing that are 2-5, fearless? Is making the prediction, that "Broncos will win the SB" when the odds of them doing that are 500-1, fearless? Which statement is the fearless statement? Does one have more to fear when the chances of winning are 5% than when the chances of winning are 95%? Is being fearless while being oblivious to dangers and being fearless while knowing the dangers the same thing?

These aren't really hypothetical questions nor do they have definite answers but they are interesting things to think about.

Stupid mutual funds

I was talking to a co-worker during lunch about my 401k loss and he thought that my funds probably had a lot of real-estate related business since it had a meteoric rise up to 3 months ago then a harsh fall since. I just checked it and he's right. One of the largest holding in my funds was Genworth financials who does mortgage loans and stuff and it dropped 20% this quarter. I guess it could've been worse if the funds weren't diversified. In any case, I automated my thing so Merril Lynch or whatever can take care of it.
